Vision and Aims of Council and Partnership
We will work together to improve the quality of life for older people by celebrating their diversity and recognizing their skills and experience through enabling involvement in decision-making, supporting them to maintain their independence and promoting a positive attitude to ageing.
Population
The number of over 50s is expected to increase sharply in the next 10 years, from

Characteristics
The Observatory team has produced an Older People Profile which provides a range of statistics about the 50 plus age group.
Income
The key indicator of low income levels amongst pensioners is the take up of the guarantee element of Pension Credit. At August 2006, Enfield had the 25th highest rate of the 354 English authorities. The number of claimants then was 5,570, 13.4% of all State Pension claimants.

Concerns
The top three concerns of older people are crime and disorder, the level of Council Tax and the quality of the Health Service [as reported in the Older People Profile – see above].
