Vision and Aims of Council and Partnership
We will have created more vibrant local communities with more use of the borough's superb green spaces, cultural attractions, arts and leisure facilities.
Leisure Centres
The main centres for the general public are given on the map below:
In addition there are some nationally important club venues, notably the Lee Valley Athletics Centre at Picketts Lock. Enfield adjoins areas which will host events for the London 2012 Olympics.
Physical activity
Sport England’s Active People Survey in 2006 found that Enfield residents had a slightly lower rate of regular participation in sport and active recreation than the national average:
| Region | Percent |
| Enfield | 19.7% |
| London | 21.3% |
| England | 21.0% |

Within Enfield, the lowest rates are estimated to be on the eastern side of the Borough.
Libraries
In 2006/07 the busiest library was Edmonton Green with 402,377 visits in the year. Across all libraries the visit rate in the same year was 6492 per 1000 population, similar to the outer boroughs of Croydon and Hillingdon. Enfield had the 9th highest rate of the 32 London boroughs for book issues per 1000 population, at 5685.
