In the absence of a measure like growth/loss of gross domestic product for an area like Enfield, it is common practice to use a number of indicators to portray economic health. Some of these indicators are given below.
Household income
The average household income in Enfield in 2008 was below that of London but higher than Great Britain:

Major Employers
Prominent employers in the private sector include: Coca-Cola Enterprises, Warburtons, IKEA, Allied Pickfords, Royal Bank of Scotland and Visteon. The largest employers are in the public sector, notably Enfield Council and the various NHS trusts.
